We had beautiful light all day for this fun couples session in the Oakland hills (you may recognize Amy and Jason from their super creative Livermore wedding), we started with a wander with their adorable dogs and then caught the sunset light down at Jack London square. Amy’s heading off for a month of basic training and wanted to schedule a family photo shoot so she’d have some prints to bring along and keep her motivated.

More shoots out in Stockton, California. It’s really fun working back in my home town, did a few sessions at American Legion Park and finished up just before a bit of rain! My childhood home was just down the street from this park, I remember going to see firework shows on the 4th of July there.

This child is a cherub. It’s the only possible explanation for those curls, those eyes, and that solid, adorable little body of hers. Paired with a personable and curious personality, this is one kid who keeps her parents on their toes.

I still shoot film, although not nearly as often as I should. Like so many of my photographer friends, I have an entire shelf of my refrigerator dedicated to my collection of film stock. On those weeks when I’m spending more time answering emails and phone calls than shooting, or when the thrilling prospect of taxes is rearing its head; that’s when I feel the urge to pick up one of my manual cameras and go for a walk. I accumulate mystery rolls of film, and don’t get down to Photoworks very often to drop off the results for processing. But when I do, it’s always a delight to see the results.

I had a great time photographing the Marsh Family in American Legion Park out in my old home town of Stockton, California. Even a drizzly day didn’t slow down their son!
